FOUNDATION OF VISOTTICA
In 1947 after his illustrious career as a pilot was cut short in a flying accident, Osalco Montalban – a man of noble origins – established the first Visottica workshop in the family home in Conegliano. Equipped with just three mechanical lathes, he began to make components, furnishing all the Veneto region’s most prominent eyewear companies.
THE NEW PLANT, THE FIRST PATENTS
Visottica expands its production capacity in the new plant in Susegana: today is still the Italian headquarters of the company. Rinaldo, Osalco’s son, was equally inspired by his father’s passion for mechanics, soon following in his footsteps helping him to come up with new technological solutions to broaden the range of products offered.
FOUNDATION OF COMOTEC FAR EAST
In the 1980’s, the pioneering French company Comotec, which specialised in eyewear component distribution, began to enter Asian markets. In 1985 Comotec Far East was founded in Hong Kong, at the same time setting up its own production units there, at first as a rival company, and later joining forces with Visottica as its strategic partner. (In 2016 Visottica acquires full ownership).
CHINA, THE NEW PLANT
Optical Technology Manufacturing Limited. It is the new factory plant that Visottica opens in China, to reduce distances and delivery times to this important market. In the meantime, Gruppo Mazzucchelli 1849 – a leading manufacturer of cellulose acetate for eyewear – acquired Comotec, the “tracks” begin to converge.
FROM VISOTTICA TO COMOTEC, VIA THE MAZZUCCHELLI GROUP
Visottica signs a partnership agreement with the Mazzucchelli 1849 Group, acquiring control of Comotec: a strategic move to expand the processing range and position on the markets. The Comotec plants are sold to Visottica which will revolutionize their production lines and company assets.
THE WORLD LEADERSHIP “VISOTTICA COMOTEC”
Full ownership of Comotec passes to Visottica which will take the name of Visottica Comotec to link together – also in the brand – two leading industrial companies. This acquisition will consolidate the company’s global leadership in the production of standard and custom components for eyewear.
A NEW FACTORY IN CHINA
In 2017 Visottica Comotec opened the new factory in Dongguan, transferring their manufacturing and administration offices to this district. The Dongguan state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, with all the makings of truly great industrial architecture, has also been designed to accommodate any future expansions.
OTHER ACQUISITIONS FOR AN OFFER AT 360 DEGREES
Visottica Comotec also became a major shareholder of Ookii, (Italy’s leading micro-mechanics specialist), which is also a majority stakeholder in Matrix (which specialises in MIM). This has since been followed by the acquisition of Eurodecori (specialised in die casting). With this transactions, Visottica Comotec empowers its production hub, unique in the world in terms of capacity and technology offering a unique range of hi-tech materials and product solutions.

The new brand identity is the result of a strategic path that aims at consolidating the company’s position as a reference point in the precision micromechanics sector, offering the excellence of the acquired know-how and a production centre that is unique in the world for its efficiency and technologies.
The new logo unify, under a common vision, all the companies that have become part of the Group following the recent acquisitions.
IDEAL ACQUISITION
Visottica Group announces the acquisition from TechVision of the entire share capital of Ideal Srl, a company active in the engineering and production of small metal parts for the eyewear sector based in Quero (BL). Furthermore, the company completes the acquisition of 100% of the shares of the companies Ookii S.r.l., Matrix S.r.l, and Eurodecori S.r.l..
